So the CBD Jobs and Skills Hub is a free recruitment service, a collaboration between employers, local and central government, all working together to help people into employment.
We get to understand the people and get to understand their background and where they're coming from, the barriers that they've got and really get to match them to the right job.
Fritz Purcell: "There's unprecedented growth in the Auckland region at the moment and there's lots of opportunities for people with the right attitude. We like to work together to plug those gaps, and help individuals that wants to find a job and, obviously, a career."
Greta Patapat: "Training's very important to CBD Jobs and Skills Hub. We at the Hub take the health and safety of people working in construction really seriously. So we sort health and safety training, because we want to make sure workers in the construction industry can come home to their families safe and they know how to manage hazards and dangerous situations on site."
Andre Van Wonderen: "The CBD Hub put together a list of people that they think would be suitable for the job. They introduced Ricky to us. He's on time, he's committed, he's keen. At this stage in his career, that's exactly what we need."
Rikki Russ-Kite: "I'd heard about the CBD hub through the careers lady at school. Yeah, they're very helpful people. They kept in contact. This job will make a big impact on the rest of my life, just to become qualified, maybe one day start my own company."
Fritz Purcell: "We've got City Rail Link that's coming, that's a seven year build, we've also got the New Zealand International Convention Centre, which is one of Auckland's biggest projects going at the moment. Engaging with schools to help with young people, to look at the viable career options for them. There's obviously a lot of opportunities for them in the construction and infrastructure industries at this point, and what we want to do is work out pathways to help candidates start looking at their career going forward."
Rob Te Poono: "With the CBD Jobs and Skills Hub, they provide so much to us, that it's just awesome to work with. We've seen so much progression with that company and with the guys that they have provided to Hirepool. We need these kinds of people. We need to get our younger generation into the workforce."
Greta Patapat: "We know that growth is going to continue within the next 10 years and knowing that we are placing people into work and enabling them to live decently, that's really rewarding for me."
